New Romanian route launches from Birmingham Airport
A new route to Romanian city Timisoara is launching from Birmingham Airport.
The Wizz Air service will operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays.
It also strengthens Wizz Air’s presence at Birmingham, where the airline now serves seven destinations, including new routes to Sibiu and Rome, announced last year.
Timisoara is a vibrant and historic city located in the Banat region of western Romania.
Known for its elegant squares, colourful baroque buildings and leafy boulevards, the city’s character reflects a long-standing multicultural heritage.
Often referred to as ‘Little Vienna’, Timisoara has played a pivotal role in Romania’s history and was named European Capital of Culture in 2023.
Nick Barton, CEO of Birmingham Airport, said: “We’re delighted that Wizz Air has further increased its presence at Birmingham Airport with the launch of a new route to Timisoara.
“This is a brand-new addition to our departures board and accompanies Wizz Air’s current direct routes from Birmingham to Rome, Bucharest, Craiova, Budapest, Sibiu and Suceava.
“Regarded as Romania’s ‘Little Vienna’, Timișoara is a renowned cultural hub, home to acclaimed museums, vibrant art galleries and unmissable historical sights, so we’re confident that this new service will prove popular with our customers.”
