New Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology visits PI-KEM
An innovative Tamworth business has received a visit from the town’s MP Sarah Edwards and new Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, Peter Kyle.
PI-KEM is a specialist supplier of advanced materials and scientific equipment, based in Wilnecote near Tamworth.
The visit provided the company with an opportunity to show their local MP and the new minister how they work with science innovation.
Sarah Edwards said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the now Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology to Tamworth.
“We visited PI-KEM, an innovative and dynamic business at the forefront of science and technology based right here in Tamworth.
“Long term research and development is crucial to keep the UK at the forefront of innovation.”
Peter Kyle said: "Businesses like PI-KEM in Tamworth show the strength of British innovation and how we can compete in a global market.”
During the visit, Mr Kyle assisted PI-KEM managing director Colin Rouse with planting the first of many trees to enhance the firm’s outdoor space.
Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce policy advisor Cameron Uppal and head of Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber Charlie Elliott also attended the visit.
