New senior commercial director appointed by payroll experts

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) has appointed a new senior commercial director to oversee the business’s ambitious commercial goals and objectives, as well as support operational processes. 

With more than 20 years of commercial experience, including working with leading HR and accounting organisations including IRIS, ADP, Ciphr, and Civica, Adrian Goddard (pictured) has a strong payroll background having worked in the industry for over a decade, holding multiple director level positions.

Headquartered in Solihull, the CIPP is a well known regional employer and has several long-standing members of staff.

Jason Davenport, chief executive officer of the CIPP, said: “Bringing Adrian on board to bolster the senior CIPP team is a really exciting moment as we continue our mission to raise the profile of payroll in businesses across the UK. Adrian brings much-valued experience and enthusiasm for the industry, and we’re excited to see how his infectious energy can have a positive impact on the CIPP in the coming months.” 

Outside of work, Adrian is passionate about executive coaching and Non-Exec Directorship, supporting professional development.

He has achieved a Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Coaching and Leadership, and is a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

Adrian said: “As soon as I started working in payroll over 12 years ago, I knew instantly that I wanted to stay in this sector for the rest of my career.

“I’m extremely passionate about giving something back to the profession that has opened so many doors for me personally, as well as use my leadership position to encourage the next generation to choose payroll.

“There are now over 60 career pathways to choose from and payroll professionals are no longer restricted to just transactional tasks; they’re becoming recognised as the engine room of a business.

“Payroll can influence and drive value to support much broader organisational objectives.

At the CIPP we can support people with this transition through our amazing memberships and IPPE education and training.

“When the opportunity arose for me to work at the CIPP, I jumped at the chance and I’m really looking forward to influencing the future of payroll through my work with the industry and our members.”
