Nominations have gone live today for four places on the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce 's Chamber Council.

The Chamber Council is responsible for steering the work of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce's Policy team and meets on a quarterly basis to discuss the latest national and regional political developments, vote on priority themes, and engage in constructive dialogue regarding key Chamber Policy campaigns.

Once elected, members can serve up to three consecutive three-year teams. During this time, members will promote and steer the work of the Policy team, attend Chamber events, and share feedback from fellow Chamber members and business contacts at Chamber Council meetings.

Raj Kandola (pictured), acting deputy CEO at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said, “Chamber Council play a vital role in shaping and steering our policy and campaigning priorities. Supporting the Chamber as a member of the Council is also a great opportunity for representatives to play an active role in giving a voice to Greater Birmingham’s businesses.”

Those interested in applying must submit an application form - which can be accessed via the Chamber's website - by 5pm on Friday 19 September. Applications received after this time will not be accepted.

Under the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce 's Articles of Association, to be eligible, applicants must be a member of the Birmingham division of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce and be able to demonstrate that they have been nominated by two other members of the Birmingham division.

Members of each of the eight other divisions of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce are represented on Chamber Council by an individual nominated by their Executive Committees. For more information on joining your division 's Executive Committee, please speak to your relationship manager.

Should the number of applicants exceed the number of seats available, an election will take place from Monday 29 September until Friday 17 October. Successful candidates will be announced soon thereafter.
