A key figure in the rollout of ultrafast fibre broadband across the region is speaking at a Chamber event focusing on technical innovation and digital adoption.

Kasam Hussain (pictured), regional partnership director for Openreach, has been confirmed as a speaker at the Quarterly Business Report briefing event on 19 July

Mr Hussain is Openreach 's partnership director for the Midlands, responsible for driving and delivering the company 's strategy in the region.

This includes both the commercial and publicly-funded parts of Openreach 's ambitious rollout of ultrafast full fibre broadband, as well as the digital voice switchover - two key programmes steering the region 's digital transformation.

He works with partners large and small, alongside central Government, local authorities and communities across the Midlands, to ensure the region capitalises on the multi-million pound investment Openreach is making in its digital infrastructure.

Previously, he was BT Group 's programme manager for several local authority fibre broadband rollouts.

Kasam is also a member of the Openreach Midlands board, utilising his experience to lead and manage business development and stakeholder engagement strategy.

Beth Clewes, insight and intelligence services manager at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “It 's great to have Kasam on board to speak at our upcoming QBR event and I look forward to hearing more about the innovative practices Openreach are rolling out and their contribution to transforming the region 's digital practices.

“His overview of Openreach 's transformative strategy for more effective digital infrastructure and how this can be of benefit to local business community will be a valuable addition to the discussion.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in learning more about how digital adoption and technology can help firms to innovate and grow to attend this event. ”
