Panellists to discuss challenges faced in Games delivery
Gowling WLG, official legal advisers for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, is hosting a panel event to hear from those directly involved in delivering the venues, accommodation and infrastructure for the Games on Wednesday 2 March.
At the event, 'Building the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games - asset delivery and legacy in challenging times ', panellists will share how they have responded to and addressed the challenges posed by shortened timescales, multiple stakeholders and the organisation of a global sporting event in the light of labour and supply chain challenges wrought by Brexit and the global pandemic.
The panel will also discuss what the lasting impact will be for the region and the UK.
The discussion will be moderated by Gowling WLG construction and engineering partner, Mike O'Shea. Mike will be joined by an illustrious panel at the forefront of B2022 built asset delivery, including:
- Craig Cooper, director Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games - Birmingham City Council
- Alex Kirby, director of Venue, Village Development and Overlay - Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
- Anne Shaw, interim managing director - Transport for West Midlands
- Neil Trubshaw, commercial director - Wates Construction
Building the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games - asset devilvery and legacy in challenging times is being held at Gowling WLG's Two Snowhill offices on March 2 from 8.30am until 10.30am.
The event will be of particular relevance to commercial and in-house legal and project delivery teams in the sectors: construction and engineering, projects and infrastructure, supply chain, regeneration, procurement, transport and sports.
