Patient-focused eyecare firm wins Solihull Chamber’s top award
A Solihull eyecare firm that has delivered strong commercial growth while maintaining consistent high standards of patient care has been named Solihull Business of the Year.
Midland Eye, which has been based in Solihull for 20 years, was recognised for expanding its services and delivering 12 per cent revenue growth over the past year.
The company picked up the Solihull Chamber’s overall Business of the Year award in front of nearly 400 guests at the National Conference Centre – having also won the Customer Commitment Award.
Over the past 12 months, the team has put a clear emphasis on increasing patient choice and access to high-quality care.
This has included a shift in its patient mix, moving from an 80 per cent NHS and 20 per cent private mix to a more balanced 60:40 split.
The team has also strengthened its reputation within the wider healthcare community, with 105 optician and GP practices referring patients to Midland Eye across NHS and private pathways.
Midland Eye has expanded access to ophthalmology services with the opening of an additional site in Olton.
Its clinical staff have undertaken further training in Dry Eye Disease, a common condition that can cause discomfort, irritation and blurred vision. The organisation has also invested in specialist equipment to support its treatment.
Patient satisfaction has remained high, with Midland Eye maintaining a 4.9 rating across Trustpilot and Doctify, based on more than 600 reviews.
The company’s commitment to patient choice is underpinned by the expansion of its private provision.
This includes elective vision correction services such as laser eye treatment and refractive procedures, which can reduce or remove the need for glasses or contact lenses, alongside treatment options for patients seeking outcomes beyond the standard NHS pathway.
Midland Eye supports a range of community and charity initiatives including Solihull Moors FC, Solihull Hospital Charity and Age UK Solihull.
Award applications were judged by a panel of eight judges, alongside chair of judging Helen Bates, Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s recently-retired chief financial officer.
The Solihull Awards were hosted by Touchwood general manager Tony Elvin. Headline sponsor was Solihull College and University Centre.
Entertainment was provided by Iconic Event Solutions Ltd.
