Phase two of net zero pledge to launch this month
The second phase of the West Midlands zero pledge is due to be launched on 30 September.
The event will offer key insights about what the Net Zero requirements are for businesses and how it impacts B2B operations.
Attendees will also be educated on what is currently required from businesses with regards to reporting, the benefits of going beyond compliance, and how signing up to the West Midlands Business Pledge can provide support needed to achieve both.
Speakers currently include:
- Andrew Smith, Lead Research Environment and Sustainability at Crown Commercial Service who will be talking about the cabinet office 's Net Zero procurement policy.
- Nicole Ellen, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Shoosmiths LLP who will be talking about what data Shoosmiths are asking for from their suppliers to reach Net Zero.
- Denise Taylor, Managing Director of Wylde connections who will be talking about the benefits of a business moving beyond compliance.
- Nat Weaver, Project Officer at Sustainability West Midlands who will be talking about the next phase of pledge support.
The net zero pledge comes as 73% of global consumers stated that they would or probably change their consumption habits to reduce their environmental impact. Government procurement policy for contracts valued at £5 million per annum now requires a Net Zero carbon reduction plan.
Speaking about the event, Nathaniel Weaver, Project Officer at SWM said,
“Join this event to better your understanding of the changing Net Zero business landscape. Attendees will benefit from key insights about what the Net Zero requirements are for businesses and how it impacts B2B operations. ”
