The Plastic Free Sea Campaign, led by ServiceGRN, has successfully completed a series of beach audits in Salcombe and Hope Cove, gathering important data on plastic pollution impacting the UK’s coastline.

Volunteers, supporters, and marine conservation advocates came together to survey the shoreline, carefully recording and categorising litter found across the beaches.

The information collected will contribute to ongoing research into the sources and scale of marine plastic pollution, helping to shape future conservation strategies and community initiatives aimed at protecting the marine environment.

ServiceGRN is a Warwickshire-based IT services company, providing international onsite engineering and emergency support for datacentres, servers, data storage, networks, and retail point-of-sale systems for a wide range of local and international organisations.

Following the success of the Salcombe and Hope Cove audits, the campaign is already planning further collaboration with partners and volunteers in Bournemouth and Croyde, North Devon, continuing its mission to reduce plastic pollution and safeguard marine life.

Darrell Arnold the founder of ServiceGRN, said: “Events like this show what can be achieved when passionate people come together to protect the seas we all care about.

“Special thanks go to our outstanding young organisers Amy, Josie, and Lewis Totney, whose enthusiasm and dedication made the Marine Plastic Beach Audits possible.

“Their passion, determination, and fantastic sense of fun created a positive and energetic atmosphere that made the entire event a huge success for everyone involved.

“It was also fantastic to reconnect with friends and clients who share a long-standing commitment to marine health. Their continued support highlights the strength of the growing network of people working together to protect our oceans and coastal ecosystems.

“Well, done everyone — we should be incredibly proud.”
