Popular children’s author to visit Cannock Library
Families are invited to a series of free fun readings by Chris Warsop (pictured), author of the Percy Drip children’s books, next month.
Chris will host a series of 30-minute sessions on 15 August at Cannock Library, which will include readings from his popular series. The sessions begin at 10am and run until 3pm.
Children are being invited to step into the world of plumber Percy Drip, where leaky taps lead to wild adventures, and a talking dog named Trousers might just save the day.
The Percy Drip series feature six books aimed at children from ages 4 to 10.
Alongside the readings, families can also take part in colouring competitions, singalongs and dancing activities. There will also be photo opportunities with full-size models of the characters.
The event is part of a wider programme of activities happening in libraries across Staffordshire alongside this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Hayley Coles, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, said: “We are delighted to host another fantastic event that will help encourage children to pick up a book over the summer and inspire their imaginations.
“These sessions hosted by Chris himself promise a bunch of fun for the whole family. The sessions are free and I hope families are able to attend. But don’t leave it too late, places will go quickly.”
Talking about the event, Chris said: “I’m really looking forward to the day and working with Staffordshire Libraries and can’t wait to meet the children and introduce them to Percy.
“These sessions have been very popular, and the kids always have fun. The books will be available on the day, but audiobooks are also available if you fancied listening, instead, narrated by our good friend Nick Owen from the news. There’s lots of sessions on the day and I hope to see everyone there.”

- 1pm-1:30pm
- 2pm-2:30pm
- 3pm-3:30pm
