A Burton based charity has confirmed that its popular annual sleepout fundraising event will return later this year.

YMCA Burton has announced that its annual sleepout will take place on 29 October, and has said it hopes to stage the event in person as well as virtually.

The sleepout encourages participants to 'sleep rough' for a night, in a bid to raise awareness and funds for YMCA Burton and the plight of homelessness.

Last year's sleepout was held virtually and featured a live-stream event, organised by Scorpion Event Solutions, which participants could take part in.

Hundreds of employers and supporters across Burton took part, raising £40,000 for the homelessness charity.

Staff at Hardy Signs, patron of Burton and District Chamber, were among those that took part in last year's sleepout, and have been long time supporters of the charity.

Nik Hardy, managing director of Hardy Signs, explained: "We have always been supporters of YMCA Burton. Their work with those less fortunate in Burton is second to none.

"At Hardy Signs we believe in giving back to the community and are delighted to be taking part in another sleepout this year.

"The sleepout is a great opportunity for companies to show their commitment to the community and I would urge all businesses to join the sleepout this year and raise much needed funds for a sector affected hard by the pandemic. ' '

Further details of this year's sleepout will be revealed by the charity later this year.
