National Careers Week takes place between 6 - 10 March and my Work Inspiration Team at the Solihull Chamber are seeking your help to engage with schools and colleges in your area, writes Tony Elvin.

National Careers Week (NCW) is a one-week celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. Our aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar, to help support young people develop awareness and excitement about their future pathways.

After a tough few years, never before has a cohort of students felt so disconnected from society or struggled so much to understand how they fit into the world of work.

This is where you come in!

We have some specific requests from The Solihull Careers Hub here.

Maybe you can host a work place trip for a local school, offer insight to students via a presentation about the importance of English Skills or Maths Skills in the workplace. Perhaps you could help with CV writing or dispelling myths about disability in the workplace?

Whatever it is, we will be hugely grateful for your support in helping us to inspire the next generation of young people from across the borough. Maybe, you don 't have the resources to help so soon but are still keen to get involved in some way, that 's great too, we 'd love to work with you.

To throw your hat in the ring to make a difference, or if you would just like some further information, please check out the Careers hub website or contact the Solihull Careers Hub team at [email protected].

We would also love to share your stories of success from engaging with education so let 's make a press release about your involvement too. Our young people need your help so let 's get stuck in and shout about it to inspire others to do the same!

Yours in business (and education), Tony Elvin
