President's column: Happy New Year
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy, but above all, healthy New Year, writes Robert Elliot, president of Solihull Chamber of Commerce.
I hope Christmas was as enjoyable as it could be under the circumstances.
So 2021 has arrived, and positivity over vaccines has been balanced with fresh concerns over Covid.
We, as a Chamber are responsible for the interests of our fellow members and our communities. We can help people grow their organisations, connect them with new clients and contacts, but above all at this time provide support in whatever form this takes. I know we will all do that, in our own ways, and as fully as we can.
With Covid increases, Brexit and our relationship with Europe changed over New Year. Whatever your opinion, this is where we are. With change comes challenges and opportunities. Often with time this change evolves into an environment where we can prosper. The Chamber of Commerce have supported us throughout the process and will continue to do so in 2021 and beyond.

So now, from me, it is farewell. I have been successful in securing a new full time role.
I am to become director of Business Development and Engagement at Hereford and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce. I start on 11 January! I will of course fulfil my Presidential duties to the best of my ability until the Solihull Chamber annual general meeting on 18 March.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support, effort, and encouragement. Particularly during my furlough and redundancy, but generally during my most enjoyable and memorable time as President.
I am just across the border, still very much part of our wonderful region and I will not be a stranger. That is why I am not saying goodbye.
I would like to say a huge thank you all for everything. Stay Safe.
