A not-for-profit organisation is striving to secure a future pipeline of talent by helping young people realise their true potential.

Through its ROAR project, Sutton Coldfield-based Cherished provides a range of services such as one-to-one mentoring to support individuals, after school fun and friendship sessions and by delivering small group sessions of their courses.

The organisation says its aim is to provide young people with a space to feel “safe, seen, soothed and secure. ”

Cherished - and its ROAR project - are run by founder and chief executive Hannah Simnett (pictured) along with a team of more than 150 highly-trained an dedicated volunteers.

Hannah said: “Now more than ever do we need men and women in our communities to give a little bit of their time to be role models, listening ears and a safe space to be heard and cared about .

“At Cherished we received hundreds of referrals for boys and girls who need a steady person in their life who can help them through the stormy times.

“I founded Cherished 10 years ago with the belief that every child needs to feel safe, seen , soothed and secure and at Cherished we do just that.

“We believe in the transforming power of kindness, compassion and connection and believe that authentic relationships are at the heart of everything. Join the family and you will be given an amazing opportunity to really make a difference to our young people. ”

Passionate about the effect of trauma on the brain, body and behaviour, Hannah is also responsible for delivering adverse childhood experience (ACE) and attachment theory training to more than 5,000 professionals working on the front line of communities, including police officers, children 's charities, social and support workers, and educators.

Cherished is looking for men and women who can give one hour a week of their time to support boys and girls across the city.

The organisation offers face-to-face and online support.

Every volunteer is provided with accredited mentoring training, as well as ongoing training and supervision.
