Property firm’s charity abseil raises nearly £32,000 for Edward’s Trust
The final fundraising total for property firm KWB’s 100 metre charity abseil in aid of Edward’s Trust has been announced as £31,781.
Every penny has gone to Birmingham-based Edward’s Trust, which supports children and families across the West Midlands who are facing loss and bereavement.
KWB’s Jo Spencer, who organised the event, said: “It was spectacular to see nearly 70 abseilers descending the 33 storey Bank Tower 2 in Birmingham city centre – and no doubt an unforgettable experience for many of them.
“After totting up the final amount we were just amazed to find we had collected nearly £32,000. I don’t think we could have imagined raising that much money – especially in the current economic climate.
“We are extremely thankful to all the individuals and businesses who supported the abseil. The money will make a real difference for Edward’s Trust, and I hope that other companies will consider holding events like this for the charity, as they rely on donations to operate.”
Clare Martin, CEO at Edward’s Trust, added “We are so grateful to KWB for organising this hugely successful fundraising challenge for us. £31,781.70 is an incredible amount of money raised and enables us to offer 318 hours of qualified counselling and holistic support to bereaved children, young people and parents in the West Midlands.
“We do not set time limits for our counselling and wellbeing support and our service is completely free. With no government funding, we rely on wonderful Corporates like KWB and other generous supporters to help us to raise funds to keep this vital service going. A massive thank you to KWB and all those brave supporters who abseiled an amazing 100 metres for Edward’s Trust.”
