Property specialist helps coffee roastery expansion

An expanding coffee specialist is quadrupling the size of its roastery at a new space in Birmingham 's Jewellery Quarter, in a deal arranged by commercial property specialist Siddall Jones.

Quarter Horse Coffee Roasters has taken a 3,942 sq ft space in a light industrial unit at 10 Kenyon Street, just a short walk from St Paul 's Square.

The company was founded by married couple Ameeta Retzer and Nathan Amos Retzer in 2012, and their original shop quickly gained a reputation for being one of the best in the country.

The Retzers then opened their first caf�-roastery in Birmingham, Ameeta 's hometown, in 2015 on Bristol Street near the city centre.

Quarter House will retain its Bristol Street caf� but will move and expand its roastery and launch a pop-up caf� in Kenyon Street premises, adding an extra member of staff to take its workforce to six.

Ryan Lynch, associate director at Siddall Jones, said: “We are delighted to have concluded this deal to Quarter Horse Coffee and wish them the best of luck in their new premises.

“This deal demonstrates the attraction of the Jewellery Quarter and the surrounding areas with Birmingham-based food and beverage businesses. ”

Amos Retzer said: "We are really excited to move into the Jewellery Quarter and create a unique, first of its kind coffee roastery.

“The new space at 10 Kenyon Street is massive compared to the corner of our caf� that we have been roasting in. It increases our production space by over four times and will allow us to have a new training space for courses and wholesale customers, as well as a small espresso bar.

“Growing this side of the business helps us to support our partners and provide a one-of-a-kind coffee space in Birmingham.

Siddall Jones arranged the deal on a 15-year lease off a quoting rental of £12 per square foot on behalf of a private client who had recently acquired the freehold of the property.
