Publishers back Cancer Research fundraising drive
Staff at a south Birmingham publishing company are backing a campaign which is aiming to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research.
The campaign has been launched by specialist cable company DP Building Systems, which is raising funds for Cancer Research by selling specially coloured fast charging cables.
And staff at Yardley-based Kemps Publishing whose families have been touched by cancer have stepped in to help promote the campaign.
Kelli Joyner Linton, head of training and recruitment, has been using social media channels to help boost the campaign, which is also being publicised in adverts in the Chamber 's 'Chamberlink ' magazine, which Kemps assists with producing.
Kelli said: “My brother-in-law passed away five years ago from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Bernie Dudley, who DP booked the ads with, has a niece going through radio and chemotherapy at the moment for throat cancer.
“We also have two members of staff that have lost their mums to cancer and our sales manager's mother-in-law has just been given the all clear for breast cancer, so it's a subject very close to all of our hearts really.
“Having said that, I would still be going all out to get as much exposure on this regardless because it's such an important cause. ”
Rob White (pictured), commercial director of Perry Barr based DP, said: “Over the years, family and friends of DP Building Systems have been affected by cancer, and that 's why we have decided to support Cancer Research UK this year ahead of Christmas.
“We hope that the campaign will generate additional donations to the charity at a critical time. It 's been a difficult year for us all, but by changing our shopping habits, supporting independent businesses and charities this Christmas, we can all make a huge difference. ”
As well as raising funds for Cancer Research with the cables - which are available in the charity 's blue and pink colours - the firm is helping the LGBT Foundation via the sale of rainbow coloured fast charger cables.
Mr White said that the Foundation provided valuable support for people, and the sale of the cables would help raise awareness of its work, and raise vital funds.
