Yetunde Dania, Chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority Race Equalities Taskforce and Partner at law firm Trowers & Hamlins will join an expert panel at the launch of the Birmingham Economic Review for 2022.

The Birmingham Economic Review is an annual publication written by the University of Birmingham City-REDI in partnership with the GBCC.

This year 's report will provide a comprehensive analysis of the city 's economy as it emerges from the coronavirus pandemic into a period of high inflation and uncertainty caused by the energy crisis, and actionable measures that businesses and stakeholders from across the city-region can take to adapt, foster resilience, and grow in this challenging environment.

The Birmingham Economic Review will assess the city 's capabilities for innovation and adaptation, the potential of its resident workforce, the major transport and infrastructure projects on the horizon, how we can achieve inclusive and more ecologically sustainable growth in economic recovery, and opportunities ahead to enhance the attractiveness of the city to visitors and investors.

The launch of the review will feature a welcome from Professor Adam Tickell, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Birmingham, followed by a presentation on the key findings of the report by Professor Simon Collinson, DPVC for Regional Engagement and director of the City Region Economic Development Institute (City-REDI and WMREDI), Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham.

There will then be a high-profile panel discussion chaired by Deb Leary OBE, President, Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, with panellists including Professor Simon Collinson, Brigid Jones, Deputy Leader, Birmingham City Council and Yetunde Dania.

Yetunde qualified as a solicitor in 1996, became a partner in 2005 and joined Trowers & Hamlins in 2011 to help open their Birmingham office. In January 2020 Yetunde was appointed by her fellow partners to the role of Head of Office.

Yetunde is passionate about advancing the diversity and inclusion agenda. At Trowers & Hamlins Yetunde is a LGBTQ+ Ally and is a member of the Diversity Committee.

Emily Stubbs, senior policy and projects manager at the Chambers said, “Birmingham is one of the most diverse cities in the country, and home to 180 different nationalities. Almost one in two residents belong to an ethnic minority group.

“We are very much looking forward to hearing from Yetunde at the launch of the Economic Review on the opportunities for the city region associated with this unique diversity and how collaboratively we can unlock the full potential of every Birmingham resident. ”
