Passengers travelling with West Midlands Railway (WMR) are urged to plan ahead and check their journeys ahead of industrial action later this week.

Members of the RMT union are set to stage strike action on Thursday 18 August and Saturday 20 August.

An amended timetable will be in place as a result with trains only running between 7.30am and 6.30pm.

An amended timetable will also be in operation on Friday 19 August and early morning services on Sunday 21 August may be disrupted due to the displacement of trains overnight.

Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director at WMR, said: “We are disappointed that passenger journeys will continue to be impacted this week as a result of this industrial action.

“We urge passengers to only travel if absolutely necessary on Thursday 18 August and Saturday 20 August as timetables will be limited.

“There will also be an amended timetable on Friday 19 August and early services may be disrupted on Sunday 21 August as trains will be in the wrong place overnight. ”

Routes with a limited service on Thursday 18 August and Saturday 20 August from 7.30am to 6.30pm are:

  • Cross-City Line (Lichfield Trent Valley - Redditch/Bromsgrove via Birmingham New Street) - 2 trains per hour
  • Wolverhampton - Birmingham - 1 train per hour
  • Birmingham New Street - Birmingham International - 1 train per hour

No trains will run on any other WMR route, including all routes via Birmingham Snow Hill, Birmingham-Shrewsbury, Birmingham-Worcester-Hereford and Nuneaton-Leamington Spa.

A more normal service will run all day on Friday 19 August but some timetable amendments will be in place and passengers are advised to check before travelling.
