Realise calls on businesses to help create 500 new apprenticeship opportunities

More than one million young people across the UK are currently not in employment, education or training - the highest NEET figure in over 12 years.  

Behind that number are thousands of 16- to 24-year-olds who are ready to work, but can’t find a way in.

Realise, a UK provider of apprenticeships and vocational training and a member of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, is calling on businesses to be part of the solution through its new Future Talent Employer Pledge - aiming to recruit at least 500 organisations nationally to commit to employing a Level 2 Administration Support apprentice over the next 12 months.

For many organisations, training costs will be fully funded by the Government, and eligible SMEs may also access incentives worth up to £6,000. Businesses signing the pledge will also receive a place on Realise’s Roll of Honour.

Karen Matthews, (pictured) director of business skills solutions at Realise, said: “Entry-level job and career opportunities are shrinking for young people, and there is growing concern about the number who could be left out of work, education or training in the years ahead.

“This apprenticeship gives young people a realistic pathway into the workplace while providing employers with support for administration, freeing up time to focus on growing their business.”

Builders’ merchant Selco Builders Warehouse has become the first company to back the campaign.

The business operates 75 branches nationwide, but its corporate head office is based in Wythall, Birmingham - making the partnership especially relevant locally.

Selco has worked with Realise on apprenticeship programmes for several years.

The Level 2 Administration Support apprenticeship takes 12 months to complete and suits sectors including care, recruitment, accountancy, legal services, logistics and manufacturing.
