Recycling firm supports local triathlete representing Team GB in Istanbul
SUEZ recycling and recovery UK is supporting Staffordshire triathlete Emma Broadhurst as she prepares to make her international debut for Team GB at the European Triathlon Championships in Istanbul on 30 August.
Emma, a mum of two from Newcastle-under-Lyme, only joined her local triathlon club two years ago, but a strong performance at the Cardiff Sprint Triathlon last year secured her place on the GB team.
Next week she’ll take on a 750m swim across the Bosphorus, a 20km cycle spanning Europe and Asia, and a 5km run through the city’s historic streets.
Emma’s journey has been supported by sponsorship from SUEZ, where members of her family also work.
Phil Mountain, general manager at SUEZ Industrial & Commercial, said: “We’re really rooting for Emma in Istanbul. It’s a proud moment for SUEZ and Staffordshire to have one of our own competing on the international stage.”
Her achievement showcases the talent and determination coming out of Staffordshire, with strong support from local businesses like SUEZ.
Emma’s race will also serve as preparation for the Age Group World Championships in Australia this October.
