Two Chambers of Commerce have partnered to deliver a new sustainability campaign.

'The Sustainable Business Series 2021: Net Zero ' is a campaign launched by the Greater Birmingham and Coventry & Warwickshire Chambers of Commerce.

It aims to support business decarbonisation to meet the national legislated net zero target and build a resilient low carbon economy, tackling climate change.

This will be achieved through increasing awareness and stimulating action on business contributions to net zero, by utilising business & stakeholder knowledge, best practice and guidance.

With the UK hosting the COP 26 summit in November, international and UK policy is likely to increase focus on improving environmental performance.

The series covers four key topics businesses will need to consider when adapting to the net zero transition - Energy, Transport, Circular Economy and Sustainable Business Management.

These topics will be supplemented by showcasing environmental leadership, practical advice and support that businesses can access.

The campaign will start in the last week of September and close with a summit in November, coinciding with COP 26.

Key political and business figure will be invited to the series.

Further details are to be released and both Chambers are currently organising partners to get involved in blogs, speaking opportunities and videos.

Will Hargreaves, environmental policy lead at the GBCC, said: “The Greater Birmingham and Coventry and Warwickshire regions have strong resource which give the regions the wherewithal to successfully decarbonise - world leading industry, business and universities, capable of innovating and adapting at pace, many of which are within the Chamber networks ”
