Restaurant donates an afternoon tea for six to help raise money for hospice
Ashas’ Restaurant & Cocktail Bar has donated an ‘Afternoon tea for six’ as a star prize in an online auction to be held by Acorns Children’s Hospice this Spring.
Acorns, which has three hospices in Selly Oak, Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, has been offering palliative care and support to life-limited and life-threatened children and their families since 1988.
In the past year alone, the hospice has supported 781 children and 1,045 families across the West Midlands, including those who have been bereaved.
The hospice is holding the Stage and Screen themed auction in March, with other top prizes including tickets for Birmingham Royal Ballet and Mary Poppins at the Hippodrome.
Nouman Farooqui, general manager at Asha’s, said: “We are delighted to be taking part in this auction to raise funds for Acorns, which is so close to the hearts of everyone across the West Midlands.
“Being a part of a ‘Stage and Screen’ themed auction is very relevant for us, as Asha’s has a strong Hollywood because of the many stars who have dined here, such as Tom Cruise, John Malkovich and Jack Black.”
Roulla Xenides, philanthropy consultant at Acorns, said: “We’re so grateful for this top prize from Asha’s which we know will be a popular item in the auction.”
Asha’s has been the recipient of countless awards over the years including Best Restaurant in the British Curry Awards and Best Restaurant in the Asian Business Awards.
Only last year, it listed in the top ten Indian restaurants in the UK.
