Rail passengers in Staffordshire are being advised that resurfacing work will begin in the main car park at Lichfield Trent Valley station next week.

The access road and pedestrian footpaths used to access the station from the A5127 Burton Road are being resurfaced, along with the car park, over a two-week period from Monday 1 March.

A reduced number of car parking spaces will be available at the station during the works, with passengers advised to leave extra time if arriving by car. Pedestrian and vehicle access to the station will remain available throughout the work.

Train services will also continue as normal during the work. The split-level station provides access to southbound services towards Birmingham and long-distance journeys on the West Coast Main Lines.

Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director for West Midlands Railway, said:
"The car park and approach road at Lichfield Trent Valley have seen better days and this work will ensure a more attractive and smoother welcome to the station for our customers.

"At the moment train travel remains reserved for essential journeys only, which means it is a good time to complete this work with fewer people currently using the railway."
