Construction of an access road off a main road roundabout in Tamworth gets under way next week.

A fourth arm will be created on the roundabout junction of the B5493 Ashby Road and Meadow Way, north of the town. It will provide access to the development which will include a new primary school and community facilities.

In addition to the new access road, the 15-week scheme also includes resurfacing, improvements to the footways, a speed reduction to 30mph and installation of a new signalised toucan crossing. Traffic management, including three-way signals, will be in place throughout the works period.

Staffordshire County Council 's cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams (pictured) said: “This 15-week scheme will see the creation of an access road off the existing roundabout on Ashby Road.

“For work to be carried out safely the team will need to have temporary traffic signals in place. We 'd ask people to allow additional travel time if their journey passes through the junction and would like to thank people for their patience while work takes place. ”
