Rugby club re-signs three more players
Birmingham Moseley rugby club has announced that both Sam McNulty, Chris Romano and Ryan Roach have re-signed for the 2023/2024 season.
Sam made 22 appearances last season, scoring 10 tries in the process. Sam demonstrates the many facets of the hooker position, from securing scrum ball to finding gaps in defence and setting up tries from rolling mauls. Sam 's performances last season led him to be voted coaches player of the Season.
After spending many months out of the game through injury, Ryan (pictured) made the most of his opportunities last season. Sharing the hooker position with Sam, Ryan made 17 appearances scoring 8 tries.
Joining the hookers in the front row is Chris Romano. Chris joined in December last year while at Birmingham University. He has represented England Counties at Under 18, Midlands Under 18 and Under 20 and Warwickshire Under 20. He came through the Wasps Academy.
Chris was selected on 5 occasions last season and will be looking to become a permanent fixture in the front row this season.
Director of Rugby Adam Balding said: “Sam now enters his third season with Birmingham Moseley, consistently performing week in week out and becoming an integral part of the team by leading right from the front with how he plays.
“Sam has shown since being in a Birmingham Moseley shirt how robust and physical he is as a player both sides of the ball by the number of games played over the past 2 seasons which is fantastic for the team.
“Ryan is a big personality within the squad, his leadership qualities are outstanding both through words and how he plays. His ability to play right on the edge drives the performance within the team. His work ethic and technical ability underpins his contribution on the pitch making him such an integral part of the forward pack.
“Chris came to us towards the end of last season from Birmingham University, fitting straight into our environment and being able to operate at this level shows the quality of Chris as a player and the standard of the university league which Birmingham University play in.
“Working with director of rugby Tom Drewett we are looking forward to growing the link between Birmingham University and Birmingham Moseley, seeing more players follow in Chris's footsteps. ”
