Runners battle bad weather to raise £15k for Penny Appeal
Runners overcame torrential rain and heavy winds to raise more than £15,000 for international charity Penny Appeal in the Coventry Half Marathon.
Penny Appeal was among the charity partners for the race which was part of the Coventry Festival of Running.
The charity offered free entry to anyone running and raising money for their Emergency Response campaign.
Participants could walk, run or even jog forward or backwards as part of the Team Orange (Penny Appeal 's colour).
More than 10 runners ran for the charity, raising over £15,000.
Head of challenges at Penny Appeal, Haroon Mota, said: “Coventry is my hometown and I can 't begin to tell how proud I am of the everyone who took part in the run - especially all those who ran for various charities including Penny Appeal, the charity which has helped vulnerable people all over the world as well as in the UK. ”
