Family Fund Midlands is calling on keen runners who also love rollercoasters to tackle the Alton Towers 10k for the charity this November.

The 10k race puts the fun in run as it winds through the iconic theme park and past the famous rides - which the participants and their supporters will get the chance to enjoy once they have crossed the finish line.

Family Fund, which supports local families on low-income raising children with disabilities or a serious illness, has a number of charity places available for fundraisers who want to take on the run with an adrenaline-filled finale.

The 10k takes place on Saturday 14 November, and is part of a festival of running at the Staffordshire theme park.

Open to runners of all abilities, the 10k loop starts and finishes outside the Towers, taking in the Dark Forest, CBeebies Land, Mutiny Bay, Katanga Canyon and the Haunted Hollow, and running past such legendary rides as Rita, Oblivion and Smiler.

The minimum age requirement is 15 years old, and friends and family who come to cheer the runners on will also get the chance to enjoy the attractions after the 10k has finished – making it the perfect day out.

Money raised for Family Fund goes to help local families on low income facing financial hardship while raising children with disabilities or a serious illness.

The charity provides essential items for the home, including washing machines, fridge-freezers and beds and bedding; tech and play equipment to aid learning and help the children realise their potential; and days out and short breaks for the whole family to relax and enjoy time together making memories.

Last year, Family Fund supported more than 15,000 Midland families with grant items and services worth £6 million.

If you’d like to join #TeamFamilyFund and enjoy the fun of the run followed by the thrill of the rides, email the fundraising team or follow the link to sign up at Alton Towers 10k - Family Fund.
