Shakespeare Martineau advises on Manor Oak Homes sale to Wates

National law firm Shakespeare Martineau has advised the shareholders of Midlands land promoter Manor Oak Homes on its sale to Wates Land & Development, part of the Wates Group.

The deal sees Manor Oak Homes become Wates Manor Oak, with the existing leadership team remaining in place as Wates strengthens its presence in the Midlands land promotion market.

Manor Oak Homes has built a portfolio of 52 maturing sites across the region, and the acquisition forms part of Wates Land & Development’s strategy to expand its national land promotion platform.

Shakespeare Martineau provided legal advice across the transaction, including corporate M&A, real estate, employment, restructuring and corporate tax.

The corporate team was led by partners Lisa Botterill and Dean Chauhan, supported by solicitor Zain Siddiqui and trainee legal adviser Chloe Hodges, alongside specialists from the firm’s tax, real estate and employment teams.

The wider team advising on the deal included Huw Witty (Tax), Louise Ingram, Charlotte O’Loughlin and Carys Smith (Real Estate), Neelam Powar and Morgan Lloyd (Employment).
