Solar car port specialists eye Midlands expansion after completing South West installations

UK-designed and manufactured solar car port specialist Solar Car Park has completed three commercial installations across the South West in March and April 2026.

Delivered for Avon & Somerset Police at sites in Bridgwater, Bristol and Portishead, the projects combined lightweight modular solar car ports with EV charging infrastructure to help generate renewable energy from existing parking facilities.

The installations utilised both ground screw and concrete-bolted structural systems designed to minimise disruption whilst maintaining operational use of the car parks throughout construction.

Solar Car Park – a Birmingham Chamber member - was founded to help businesses overcome many of the barriers associated with traditional rooftop solar systems, including roof limitations, planning restrictions and lack of available land.

By transforming underutilised parking areas into renewable energy assets, solar car ports help businesses to reduce long-term electricity costs, support EV charging infrastructure, improve sustainability credentials, generate on-site renewable energy, and make better use of existing real estate.

Now the firm is eying expansion into the Midlands.

Jon Graham, co-founder of Solar Car Park, said: “Businesses across the UK are under increasing pressure from rising energy costs whilst also trying to improve their sustainability credentials.

“Solar car ports offer a practical solution that allows organisations to generate renewable energy from an underutilised asset they already own, their car park.

“As someone originally from the Birmingham area, one of my personal ambitions is to help bring solar car port infrastructure to businesses across Birmingham and the wider Midlands region.

“There is a huge opportunity for organisations to reduce long-term energy costs whilst also strengthening their sustainability messaging.”

Solar Car Park works with businesses, consultants and solar PV installers across the UK through both direct delivery and white-label partnership models.
