Solihull business scoops award for its work with charity
A Solihull business- who are the global leader in emergency evacuation and transfer equipment - have scooped the award for Excellence in Technology & Innovation at Solihull Chamber of Commerce Awards 2023.
The award recognises the innovative product Paraid (a division of Evac+Chair International) designed and manufactured in the UK, for an air ambulance charity.
Paraid is a medical brand that provides innovative critical care transfer equipment, designed to assist in saving lives in medical emergencies for over 40 years.
The charity, Lia’s Wings, appointed Paraid to design a bespoke elevating critical care transfer trolley. It’s the only charity in the UK that flies children to hospital by aeroplane, enabling children quicker access to life-saving specialist care.
Working in collaboration with Lia’s Wings, the R&D Team developed the Transporter Infinite Aero™ which has enabled seriously ill children to be transferred between hospital, ambulance, and aircrafts quicker, using only one piece of equipment. Previously, logistical hurdles often resulted in long delays which has put children at risk.
A spokesperson from Lia’s Wings said: “This is an innovative piece of equipment (first of its kind in the UK) that will help us transport premature babies in our flight-ready incubator. Before, it would take 6 people to load our incubator manually from a stretcher onto an aeroplane. Now, it takes a flick of a switch! This equipment will not only look after our babies, but also our flight teams, who are so important to us”.
Antonio Duggal from the R&D Team at Paraid said: “Winning this award is great, but it is the work we have been able to do with Lia’s Wings which makes us very proud. At Pariad, we have been saving and protecting lives since 1982 and we will continue to do this, so that every single person in the UK can be transported safely.”
