Solihull MPs take part in charity cricket match for mental health trust  

Solihull MPs Saqib Bhatti and Neil Shastri-Hurst are taking part in a charity cricket match to help fundraise for a local mental health trust.

The Cameron Grant Memorial Trust raises awareness of mental health and supports the prevention of young suicide.

The fundraising event is being held on Sunday 30 August at 2pm at Dorridge cricket club, and all donations will go towards the trust and its work in the community.

Meriden and Solihull East MP, Saqib Bhatti, a former Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce president, said: “This match is so important to raise awareness about mental health and help support the excellent Cameron Grant Memorial Trust that does so much to increase knowledge about mental health and its impact on young people.

“Whilst the two sides will be battling hard on the pitch, we are united in our determination to help improve young people’s mental health off it. It’ll be a great day out for the family, and I hope you can make it.”

Neil Shastri-Hurst, MP for Solihull and West Shirley, said: “I’m really pleased to be taking part in this charity cricket match in aid of the Cameron Grant Memorial Trust.

“It is a brilliant cause, helping to raise awareness of suicide prevention and mental health, and making sure that people who are struggling know that they are not alone and can get the support they need.

“Cricket is a sport I love, so it’s a great way to support such an important cause. And while the charity is the reason we’re all there, I’m sure that once the first ball is bowled, Saqib and I will both be doing everything we can to win!”
