A Solihull principal has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to school sport across the borough.

Tim Lane (pictured), assistant principal at WMG Academy, has been recognised with the Mike Hinks Award for staff contribution to school sport.

The award was presented at this year’s Solihull Sports Federation Roll of Honour awards for his outstanding service to school sport across the borough.

Tim has over 22 years of experience working in Solihull schools and has made a lasting impact through his leadership of the Solihull Basketball Association and his coaching of numerous school teams.

He was honoured for his dedication to providing young people with opportunities to engage in physical education and develop their sporting talent.

Stepping down from his formal PE role, Tim continues to support WMGA students in local competitions.

Tim said: "I’m incredibly proud to receive this award. Supporting young people in sport has always been a passion of mine, and it’s rewarding to see students continue to grow, compete, and enjoy being active."
