Soul of Sutton photography competition returns for third year
Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council is inviting residents to enter the third year of its Soul of Sutton Photography Competition, launched to celebrate the people, places and moments that make the town unique.
This year's competition coincides with World Photography Day, whose 2026 theme, 'HOME', encourages entrants to capture what home means to them, whether through a favourite park, local landmark, high street, event or everyday moment.
The free competition is open to amateur photographers who are residents, pupils or students of Sutton Coldfield, with two age categories: 13-17 and 18 and over. Entrants can submit up to five photographs, with entries closing at midday on Wednesday 9 September 2026, and winners announced on Monday 21 September 2026.
Prizes in each category are a £100 One4all Gift Card for first place, £50 for second and £25 for third. Winning images will be featured across the Town Council's website, social media channels and marketing materials, with selected entries considered for future exhibitions.
Councillor Nitish Raut, mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, said: "I am delighted that the Soul of Sutton Photography Competition is returning for another year. The photographs submitted in previous competitions have beautifully captured the spirit of our Royal Town, highlighting not only its wonderful landscapes and heritage but also the pride people have in the place they call home.
"This year's theme gives everyone the opportunity to share their own unique perspective of what home means to them. I encourage residents eligible to enter the competition to get involved and help celebrate the people, places and moments that make the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield such a special community."
Entries can be submitted by email to enquiries@suttoncoldfieldtowncouncil.gov.uk, by post to Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, 62 Anchorage Road, Sutton Coldfield, B74 2PG, or via the Town Council's social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X, by direct message or by tagging the council using #SoulOfSutton.
Each entry should include the photographer's name, the location and a short description of the image.
