A speaker has been confirmed for the upcoming launch of the Staffordshire Gateway Growth Panel report.

Jonathan Roberts (pictured), CEO of M6Toll and chair of the panel, will be speaking at the event, happening on 27 March at the Hub at St Mary’s.

Jonathan joined M6Toll as chief financial officer at the start of 2024 moving from the rail industry where he spent 13 years as director across a number of businesses.

Bringing over 15 years of experience in the transport sector to his role as chair, Jonathan has a wealth of expertise in dealing with complexity, strategy, delivering change, and developing people in key leadership roles.

Bookings are open to this free event which is set to offer an in-depth, business-led exploration of the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of South and East Staffordshire.

Jonathan will be joined by Amrit Virk, assistant principal at Burton and South Derbyshire College. More speakers will be announced soon.

Developed in partnership with the GBCC and divisional Chambers in Lichfield & Tamworth, Burton & District, and Cannock Chase, the panel brings together expertise from across the local business community to identify the key enablers needed to unlock sustainable economic growth.

The report examines how the move towards a new Strategic Authority could best support business, drawing on business roundtables, surveying, interviews, and learning from existing devolved authorities.

Ruth Fleet, Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce senior policy advisor, said: “We are thrilled that Jonathan will be able to join us as a speaker for the Staffordshire Gateway Growth Panel launch event.

“As Chair of the Panel, Jonathan has been heavily involved in the project from day one and will be able to bring a wealth of expertise and insight to the discussions.

“With some other fantastic speakers on the line-up, the event will be a fantastic opportunity to hear more about where businesses in South and East Staffordshire see long-term opportunities for growth via devolution.”
