Supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) is delivering a range of events to inform local businesses about the latest Brexit-related developments.

The UK 's departure from the European Union has undoubtedly raised a number of urgent questions with regard to Northern Ireland.

Though some issues were resolved through the Northern Ireland Protocol, disagreement between the UK and the European Union over the operation and future of the Protocol persists.

The free event, happening tomorrow at the offices of Chamber patron Mills & Reeve, will discuss the latest developments and how these might affect trade with Northern Ireland.

Speakers for the event include;

  • Jayne Hussey, Partner, Mills & Reeve
  • Richard Gray, Partner, Carson McDowell
  • Stuart Anderson, head of public affairs, NI Chamber of Commerce
  • Steve Brittan, business advisor, BSA Tools and former president of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce

The session will be chaired by Emily Stubbs, senior policy and project manager at the GBCC.

Raj Kandola, head of policy at the GBCC said: “Our research reveals the extent to which a number of local businesses are still facing issues in trading with Northern Ireland and further afield.

“We 're delighted that Mills & Reeve are hosting this event which will offer an update on the legal action that the EU is taking against the UK, the latest on the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill and what it means for your business and the practical steps firms in Greater Birmingham have taken to minimise these impacts.

“It 's also a fabulous opportunity to network and share tips with other local businesses that have been facing similar issues.
