Stellar line-up at Chamber 's exclusive US Embassy event

A high-profile line-up of speakers has been confirmed for an exclusive U.S. Embassy event hosted by the Greater Birmingham Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce.

The U.S ' top representative in the UK, Charg� d'Affaires Ambassador Philip T. Reeker, and executive chair of fitness apparel brand Gymshark Steve Hewitt will be speaking at the member-only event next Wednesday (23 March).

They will be joined by the US Department of Commerce 's Rosemary Gallant, SelectUSA 's Gus Franklyn-Bute, HSBC's UK head of business banking David Beaty and HSBC's head of U.S. desk Joe Davis at an event designed to promote further trade between the West Midlands and the United States.

Ambassador Philip T. Reeker (pictured) arrived in the UK in August 2021 to assume the role of Charg� d 'Affaires, ad interim.

Prior to taking up duties in London, Ambassador Reeker led the State Department 's Bureau?of? European and Eurasian Affairs as Acting Assistant Secretary (March 2019 to July 2021).

From 2017, Ambassador Reeker was civilian deputy and policy advisor to the Commander of US European Command, in Stuttgart, Germany.

He served as the United States Consul General in Milan, covering northern Italy (2014 to 2017), and as deputy assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs focused on the Balkans, Central Europe, and Holocaust Issues (2011 to 2013).

Steve Hewitt is executive chairman of Gymshark, the Solihull-headquartered fitness apparel brand that has enjoyed great success Stateside.

In August 2020 Gymshark was valued at more than £1bn ($1.3bn), joining the exclusive list of British companies to have achieved “unicorn ” status.

Steve has held several senior executive positions throughout his career, including CEO of Sport Brands Group, a specialist in establishing distribution and licensing partnerships with global brands, and commercial director for Reebok, where he spent six years overseeing year-on-year double-digit growth in vital markets in the EMEA region.

He will be addressing Transatlantic Chamber members about Gymshark 's business journey and increased success in the U.S.
