Suicide Prevention Day webinar to help Midlands businesses build better workplaces
Lichfield-based Employee Assistance Provider (EAP), The Listening Centre, is set to host a free one-hour webinar marking World Suicide Prevention Day on Thursday, 10 September.
The webinar taking place from 11 am to 12 noon is titled as "Creating Suicide-Safer Communities", giving organisations the confidence to have a safe, direct conversation with an employee who may be struggling.
Attendees are asked to complete the Zero Suicide Alliance's free 30-minute online training beforehand, to make the session can go beyond the basics into practical, reflective territory.
The Listening Centre was recently recognised by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) as a gold-standard EAP following BBC Radio 4's File on Four investigation.
The webinar will cover what “suicide-safer” actually means in practice, what that looks like at strategic, managerial and grassroots level within an organisation, and how to look after yourself while supporting someone else — building on the Zero Suicide Alliance foundation rather than repeating it.

More than 6,000 people die by suicide in the UK each year, and an estimated one in five people will experience suicidal thoughts during a lifetime.
This session forms part of The Listening Centre's ongoing commitment to changing the narrative around suicide, in line with this year's World Suicide Prevention Day theme.
