Summit Learning Trust celebrates double award win for education and community support

The Summit Learning Trust celebrated an evening of recognition after winning two prestigious national honours at the nEdEx School and Trust Leadership Awards 2026.

The trust was named ‘Small Trust of the Year 2026’ and received the ‘Outstanding Community Impact Award 2026’.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in Milton Keynes, bringing together education leaders from across the country to celebrate excellence in school and trust leadership.

The ‘Small Trust of the Year Award’ recognises Summit's focus on ensuring every child thrives and flourishes through high quality education, exceptional staff development and innovative leadership.

The trust was praised for its strong academic outcomes, sector leading professional development offer, collaborative culture and commitment to providing enriching opportunities for all learners.

The’ Outstanding Community Impact Award’ recognised the success of Summit Base Camp, the trust's flagship community support programme, which was established to remove barriers to learning.

Since 2022, Summit Base Camp has delivered over 400,000 free breakfasts, 3,000 food parcels, 32,000 warm hub sessions, 4,000 school uniforms and thousands of health, wellbeing and educational support packages to children and families.

Karen Crowston, chair of the board of trustees at Summit Learning Trust, said: "Winning both ‘Small Trust of the Year’ and the ‘Outstanding Community Impact Award’ is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of the dedication, compassion and expertise of our staff members and learners across Summit Learning Trust. 

“These awards recognise not only the exceptional educational experiences we provide for our children and young people, but also our unwavering commitment to supporting our families and communities.

“We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved together and remain determined to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive, flourish and succeed."
