While travelling abroad is set to be off the cards for a while longer, Birmingham Women 's and Children 's Hospitals Charity is encouraging adventurous supporters to take on a bucket list challenge a little closer to home.

Following the Prime Minister 's news conference last week, which outlined a cautious, phased route out of lockdown, the charity is offering five UK-based treks and walks to give supporters the chance to combine fundraising with exploring some of the most picturesque beauty spots in the country.

All taking place from May to October 2021, supporters of all abilities will be able to choose from the following walks in aid of the patients at both Birmingham Women 's and Children 's Hospitals:

  • The Edale Skyline - A 22-mile walk in the Peak District
  • Snowdon Sunrise Trek - A twilight walk to the summit of Mount Snowdon to watch the sunrise over Snowdonia
  • Yorkshire Three Peaks - Three peaks and 25 miles of walking in 12 hours, with stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales
  • West Highland Way - Trekking the Scottish Highlands, starting in the lowlands of the West Highland Way
  • Hadrian 's Wall - A weekend walking the 'best 40 miles of Hadrian's Wall

Each walk will be lead by professional guides from Large Outdoors, who have walked the routes many times, so walkers know they will be in safe and knowledgeable hands.

Walks will be Covid-secure and take place in line with government guidance, to ensure the safety and experience of walkers.

Miranda Williams, head of public fundraising at Birmingham Women 's and Children 's Hospitals Charity, said: “The last year has been tough for charities like ours but it 's also been tough on individuals who have been stuck at home.

“That 's why as the world starts to slowly open up again, we 're encouraging everyone to get out and get some fresh air and enjoy the challenge of one of our beautiful walks, whilst raising vital funds to help us do more for our brave patients and support the work of our NHS Heroes. ”
