Sustainability in focus at speaker breakfast
Burton & District Chamber members were given the opportunity to learn more about sustainability during an event held at the National Brewery Centre.
As part of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce's Sustainable Business Series, attendees heard from Malcolm Lawson, director of waste and recycling firm Wilshees, to address the theme of sustainability and recycling.
Delegates were also welcomed by the Burton & District Chamber president and MD of Ginho Group, Shaun Gray, new divisional Richard Brooks and the GBCC 's sustainability lead Kuranpal Singh.
Kuranpal outlined the expertise and support offered by the Chamber, including ongoing themed events, podcasts and webinars leading up to the Sustainability Business Conference taking place in Birmingham today.
Malcolm Lawson provided an insight in the operations of family firm Wilshees, from its humble beginnings in skip hire, to the realisation in state of the art recycling plants, looking to recycle all waste material into reusable products and fuel to replace coal.
Not only does the firm lead the way in its commitment to a low carbon footprint and a net zero pledge, but also in helping others achieve their sustainability goals.
Malcolm said: “Willshee 's are eager to work with local and regional businesses, to reduce their carbon footprint through expert management of waste recycling, to achieve true sustainability. ”
Malcolm demonstrated ways in which the firm can help businesses to reduce, reuse, repair, recycle, recover and dispose of waste using specialised advice, vehicles, equipment and advanced technology to achieve true “zero waste to landfill ”.
