Sutton Coldfield Christmas market returns for its second year
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Sutton Coldfield Christmas Market returns to the town centre for two weekends this December.
The Sutton Coldfield Christmas Market will take place across two four-day weekends from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 December and Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 December.
The market will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday 10am–8pm and Sundays 10am–5pm.
Last year’s Christmas market ran for 22 days, and feedback from visitors and traders has shaped this year’s refreshed format, reducing the event to eight days to maximise atmosphere and footfall.
This year’s traders will operate from festive, illuminated gazebos along The Parade creating a vibrant, fully occupied artisan marketplace.
The event is a partnership between Visit Royal Sutton Coldfield Business Improvement District (BID) and LSD Promotions, the company behind Stratford-upon-Avon’s hugely popular Christmas Market.
With more than 60 stallholders already booked for the first week in Sutton Coldfield, the market promises a bustling mix of unique gifts, seasonal food, crafts, and festive treats.
Trader bookings remain open, and all enquiries should be directed to LSD Promotions.
Michelle Baker, BID manager at Visit Royal Sutton Coldfield BID, said: “We are delighted to see the return of the Christmas Market for a second year and love the idea of this year’s theme, with all stallholders dressed in Victorian costume and the gazebos brightly lit.
“Much like our Food Festivals, we intend for the Christmas Market to become an annual fixture that gets better year after year.
“The whole idea of a Christmas Market is to give people another reason to visit Sutton Coldfield town centre and to boost footfall.
“A Christmas market is an attraction in itself, and as many people say that the Birmingham Christmas Market is too busy and often has the same stalls, we hope visitors will come to Sutton to support ours for something a little different.
“And while you’re here, please support local businesses.”
The Christmas Market will be officially opened by MP Sir Andrew Mitchell on Thursday 11th December at 4pm on the Parade in Sutton Coldfield town centre.
To support the new Victorian Market and boost weekend footfall in the run up to the big day, Visit Royal Sutton Coldfield BID has organised entertainment including stilt walkers, Father Christmas, Gingerbreads, Elves and a walk in snow globe.
Gracechurch shopping centre will also be hosting Christmas events which are due to be announced shortly.
Visitors are further encouraged to enjoy the festivities thanks to a free parking initiative funded by Sutton Coldfield Town Council.
All Birmingham City Council–owned car parks in the town centre will offer free parking after 4pm on Thursdays and Fridays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
