Tamworth residents are being urged to shop local and support the town’s independent businesses this Small Business Saturday, on 5 December.

Tamworth Borough Council is backing the national campaign again this year.

It is encouraging people to explore the town centre’s 50-plus independent shops, visit its market and discover the products and services on their doorstep.

Small Business Saturday takes place on the first Saturday in December each year.

It celebrates small firms and highlights the role they play in creating vibrant town centres and supporting local economies.

Councillor Carol Dean, leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “Tamworth has a fantastic range of independent businesses, with at least 50 in our town centre alone. Each has something different to offer, and together they help make our town centre a unique place to shop, visit and spend time.

“Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to discover shops you might not have visited before, find something a little different for Christmas and show your support for the local businesses that help our town centre thrive.

“By shopping local and supporting Tamworth’s independent businesses, we’re backing local entrepreneurs and the people who bring new ideas, character and choice to our town.”

The council will showcase independent businesses on its social media channels in the run-up to the day.

Tamworth Castle will also be open on Small Business Saturday, with festive decorations for families to enjoy.
