The impact new technologies such as AI and automation are having on SMEs will be explored at a forthcoming event, jointly hosted by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce and HSBC UK.

Digital Transformation Decoded is a Birmingham Tech Week fringe event taking place on 17 October at HSBC UK's head office in Centenary Square, Birmingham.

The event will provide practical advice, insight and information on what developments - from AI, data analytics and automation, to advances in cloud-based solutions and cyber security - mean for Greater Birmingham's business community.

This event is also set to explore how businesses are embracing the opportunities and navigating the challenges of the digital industrial revolution - as well as learning more about the tangible benefits of doing so.

GBCC chief executive Henrietta Brealey is chairing the discussion.

She will be joined by Clare Walker, HSBC UK's deputy head of corporate banking in the West Midlands and tech sector lead, and Lee Johnson, chief technology officer for Air IT.

Steve Whitmarsh, managing director of vehicle fleet management experts runyourfleet, winner of Excellence in Technology & Innovation at the 2023 GBCC Awards, will be sharing a case study of their approach to digital transformation.

Henrietta (pictured) said: “As the business world adapts to the latest industrial revolution, sharing knowledge and best practice of these advances in technology is critical.

“We're delighted to be working in partnership with HSBC UK for this Birmingham Tech Week fringe event, where we will explore what the latest advances mean for local businesses and how they can best adopt and adapt to them.

“This is one huge technological and societal shift that we're all navigating our way through together. This event will offer plenty of discussion and peer learning as well as opportunity to ask the experts.
