The Hub at St Mary’s ready for busy October line-up

The Hub at St Mary's in Lichfield is set for a packed run of shows this October - with acts spanning family theatre, comedy, opera and live music all set to take to the stage.

Taking place on Sunday 18 October, A Tale of Us is a new play for parents and their babies exploring the wonder, joys and challenges of becoming a new parent.

Following new mum Ivy through her first year with her baby, the show blends drama with multi-sensory playtime in a relaxed, purpose-designed environment, and is aimed at children aged 0-18 months.

Performances take place at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 3pm, each followed by a guided Stay and Play session giving parents the chance to meet others in a similar position.

The show is supported by The Hub's Family Shows partner, Redrow.

On Wednesday 21 October, comedian, author and broadcaster Robin Ince brings an evening of stories and poetry to The Hub.

Best known as former co-host of BBC Radio 4’s Sony Award-winning The Infinite Monkey Cage alongside Professor Brian Cox, Ince is a twice-winner of Author of the Year from The Booksellers Association and holds an honorary doctorate from Royal Holloway.

The 8pm show is supported by Cathedral Hearing.

Lichfield-based indie rock band Fluoxetine (pictured) headline their biggest homecoming show to date on Friday 23 October (8pm).

Formed in 2024, the five-piece - Dillon Morris, Rob Willis, Jack Cardall, Francois Moreau and Adam Smith - have built a growing fanbase through festival slots and high-profile support gigs, drawing comparisons to Radiohead, Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins.

They'll be joined by support acts Lost Legs, Emily Alice and S0rt.

Rounding off the month, Flotsam arrives on Monday 26 October, bringing David Wiesner’s much-loved picture book to life through opera specially created for young audiences.

Produced by OperaUpClose and featuring a new score by Kerry Andrew, the show follows a child who discovers a mysterious camera washed up on the beach, revealing an underwater world linking children across time and space.

Aimed at ages 2-6 and their grown-ups, performances take place at 11am and 1pm, supported by Redrow.
