The Hub to celebrate 100 years of Laurel & Hardy
Neil Brand is inviting audiences to celebrate the centenary of legendary comedy duo Laurel and Hardy in a new show which is coming to The Hub at St Mary's in Lichfield.
It takes place on Saturday 9 May.
In 1926, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy signed separate contracts with Hollywood film mogul Hal Roach and appeared for the first time in a film together, ‘45 Minutes from Hollywood’.
The following year they would become an official comedy partnership - going on to become global icons in over 130 countries.
Thanks to new restorations of their silent films and the rediscovery of some of their lesser-known comedies, Neil will uncover gems of hilarity and bring them to life with live piano improvisations for which he has made his name. F
The show features extended scenes from the best of their silent comedies, particularly You're Darn Tootin, The Finishing Touch, and The Second Hundred Years.
Currently working on a television documentary and a new book about 'The Boys', Neil (pictured) is once again looking forward to sharing his knowledge and expertise with audiences around the country and celebrating the life and times of comedy legends, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
The Hub creative director, Anthony Evans said: "Neil is an absolute maestro when it comes to improvising piano accompaniment for silent films so here’s a rare opportunity to experience it first-hand, here at The Hub in Lichfield. Don’t miss out – the remaining tickets are selling fast!"
Tickets for the show, at £26 are available online or in person from the box office.
