Birmingham Alexandra theatre is set to host two sing-a-long-a shows in the coming months.

Sing-a-long-a Encanto is scheduled to arrive at 22 October while The Greatest Showman sing-a-long-a is due to appear on 15 January next year.

Encanto is a hit film musical of 2021 about the adventures of the Family Madigral. The audience can cheer on Mirabel as she tries to save the magic surrounding her Encanto and sing their heart out.

All performances starts with a sing-a-long-a host who warms up the audience, trains them how to interact with the movie using the contents of their free props bag and heckle in all the right places as well as judge the fancy dress competition.

The unique, interactive entertainment form known as Sing-a-long-a, meanwhile, was allegedly born in an old people 's home in Inverness. The nurses wanted to involve the residents in an interactive group therapy. They decided to screen Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and gave out song sheets so that everyone could sing-a-long.

Next year, the audience can cheer on Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson at The Greatest Showman sing-a-long-a.

Lyrics will be on screen and dressing up is encouraged.

Birmingham 's beloved theatre, The Alexandra, was built in 1901 by William Coutts and throughout its vast history, has become home to first class entertainment. Located in the heart of the city, the theatre welcomes hundreds of performances each year.
