The report offers an up-to-date snapshot of the performance of the Greater Birmingham business community.

It is the most comprehensive regular report of its kind in the city-region.

As well as gathering the usual data on key indicators such as sales, exports, investment intentions and the workforce, the GBCC are interested in hearing from firms about their experience of the Commonwealth Games which took place from 28 July to 8 August.

Survey data will be collated at a national level and will feed into policy at a national level, reaching institutions such as the Government and the Bank of England.

The Quarterly Business Report is sponsored by Birmingham City University.

Beth Clewes, insight and intelligence services manager for the GBCC, said: “Last quarter, the Quarterly Business Report demonstrated a record level of recruitment difficulties and price pressures for local firms, as well as a record-breaking 41 per cent of respondents reporting that inflation was of concern to them and their business.

“With prices continuing to soar since our last surveying period, we 'd really love to hear from firms as to how business is going, both in terms of what is going well and where the challenges lie

“As well as sharing the data anonymously with the British Chambers of Commerce to aid their national lobbying activity, the Quarterly Business Report forms an evidence base for the GBCC and local decisionmakers when discussing the Greater Birmingham economy and how to support Birmingham-based businesses.

“I would encourage representatives from businesses of any size or sector to take a few minutes to fill in this survey. ”
