Touchwood crowns winner of annual choir competition
Pupils from Cranmore Infant School were recently crowned the 2022 winners at the annual Touchwood Shopping Centre School Christmas Choir Competition.
The competition, which takes place every year throughout December, has proven to be very popular with the local residents of Solihull over the past fifteen years.
The pupils from Cranmore were presented with their winners ' medals from December 's competition, along with a prize of £1,000 from Touchwood Solihull, which will be invested in the school 's music development programme.
The competition enhances Touchwood 's strong community feel in the lead-up to Christmas, by giving local school pupils a stage to entertain shopping guests with well-known festive songs.
Cranmore Infant School received 1,700 votes out of the 6,000 votes in total that were submitted online. Cranmore was crowned as the clear winner out of the 15 schools from across the Solihull borough that took part in Touchwood 's annual choir competition.
Lucy Burnett, marketing manager at Touchwood, said: “It is a pleasure to run this competition each year as it really showcases the children 's talent from schools in the local area and is a great way to get everyone into the festive spirit.
“The Cranmore pupils exhibited their hard work through a great performance and are very well-deserved winners! We look forward to hosting this competition yet again for the local schools in December 2023. ”
Carol Baker, Lead Teacher at Cranmore Infant School, added: “I have been coaching the pupils who take part in this annual competition for 15 years now and for it to be their first-ever win makes it even more significant.
“We 're absolutely delighted that Cranmore has been crowned as the winners and the pupils have been overjoyed to receive their medals. We are especially grateful to have been donated a very generous £1,000 prize by Touchwood Solihull towards the school 's music syllabus. ”
