Tram services across the West Midlands have been suspended.

West Midlands Metro, which operates services between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, has removed all 21 trams from its operation, after a fault was identified by vehicle manufacturer CAF.

Metro operators have said that tickets and passes will still be valid on bus and rail services.

Tram services were suspended on Friday. West Midlands Metro is expected to provide an update on whether services can resume at 5pm today.

The tram service normally operates every 6-8 minutes during peak times between Birmingham Library and Wolverhampton St Georges.

A major £1.3bn expansion of the Metro network is currently underway, with construction currently taking place to extend the network in Edgbaston and Wolverhampton.
